I found my love of bodywork through water. I grew up near the ocean, and in 2001 in Seattle, I discovered Watsu® and Healing Dance®, unique forms of bodywork based in shiatsu and dance, and practiced in warm water. I was moved by how gentle yet profound the work was, helping restore freedom in body and mind. I studied aquatic bodywork through the School of Shiatsu and Massage in Middleton, CA, becoming certified in 2005. Along the way I studied massage at the Northwest School of Massage and became a Licensed Massage Practitioner the same year.. I have since done in depth study in aquatic bodywork, visceral manipulation, and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD). I have always been interested in finding ways to work with physical and emotional trauma. I had a private practice in Seattle for 10 years, and worked with a wide variety of conditions, Including stroke recovery, cancer, ALS, spinal cord injury, PTSD, cerebral palsy, and autistic kids. I relocated to Austin in 2012, and since moving here I have completed MLD training with the Klose school, and Oncology Massage training with Tracey Walton Associates.
I have noticed a profound difference when working on a subtle level with the body, whether it’s on a table or in the water, and with whatever challenges a person is dealing with. These gentle techniques, and the quality of presence, work deeply with the nervous system to create a state of physical and emotional safety. When the body feels safe and supported, it will naturally move toward optimal health.
