Mary earned a BS in Nursing from California State University Fresno in 1975 and a MPA in Health Management from Golden Gate University in 1989. After retiring from the US Air Force Nurse Corps she completed a 500 hour Massage Therapy Program from the Virginia Learning Institute in Falls Church, VA in 1999. She has received training in numerous massage modalities to include Elder-ssage™ and Lymphatic Drainage and in June 2011 she completed Tracy Walton’s four-day Oncology Massage Therapy, Caring for Clients with Cancer course. Prior to retirement Mary’s private practice was primarily with the elderly and veterans focusing on stress reduction and relaxation and volunteering at the New Braunfels Cancer Care Center of South Texas providing oncology massage in the infusion treatment room. Mary is a breast and skin cancer survivor and her professional memberships include the Oncology Massage Alliance and Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. She has received The President’s Volunteer Service Award for her hundreds of community volunteer hours with the New Braunfels Community Emergency Response Team and the Texas Hill Country Search and Rescue Team and is a nationally certified Search and Rescue Technician. In 2015 she was invited to be a volunteer staff member of Texas’ Casting for Recovery organization and provides massage therapy and fly fishing instruction to breast cancer survivors.
