M’Liss, an original Austinite now residing in Pflugerville, was influenced by her grandmother to pursue a career in massage therapy. After 26 years as a Special Education administrator and teacher, she decided to make her grandmother proud and graduated from the Lauterstein-Conway Massage School in 2017. She has a Certification in Manual Lymphatic Drainage, the Vodder Technique, through Klose Training.
Her interest in oncology massage began when her sister-in-law was comforted by hand and foot massages during hospice care for ovarian cancer. She recently completed Tracy Walton’s “Oncology Massage Therapy: Caring for Clients with Cancer” workshop. She currently provides hand and foot massage to patients at Texas Oncology Central in Austin, Texas.
Professional memberships include Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals and Oncology Massage Alliance.
She currently works at Austin Community College full-time, has a home practice focusing on therapeutic (including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Orthopedic, Myofascial Release), lymphatic (MLD), oncology massage (accepting oncology clients in February 2019), and Ayurvedic face, head, & scalp massage. She is currently working on her Apothecarist’s Certification, graduating in Summer 2021.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Master of Arts in Science Education. She is happily married and has 3 feisty dogs. As a water baby, she spends her free time in the pool or scuba diving.
